It all started during a food shortage. In late 2025 there was a national strike. Roads were blocked, and supermarket shelves were empty. I was fortunate. I had a pantry full of shelf-stable ingredients, and decades worth of recipes and techniques, but many of my neighbors were struggling. So I started sharing ideas on our local forum and offering to teach whoever was interested.
That’s how The Abundant Pantry began. We started meeting monthly at a local restaurant (thank you forever, Sebastián and Felipe!) and within a few weeks we had more than 50 people on our mailing list. I was sending the recipes by email after each meeting, but I wanted to make it easier for people to find previous recipes and to see helpful visuals. And that’s why I’ve decided to create this blog. I also plan to post articles from time to time on general topics related to food and nutrition.
I get inspiration from many sources, but I personally test every recipe before sharing.
